Greetings our esteemed colleagues – scholars, researchers and experts!
We, the team of the "Silk Road" International Research Institute, have embarked on a challenging and inspiring mission to study, preserve and promote the tangible cultural heritage of the Silk Road countries.
The key objectives of the Silk Road Institute are: fundamental and applied research in the field of tangible cultural heritage; preparation and publication of the multi-volume updated and supplemented "Code of Architecture Monuments of Uzbekistan"; compilation of a comprehensive "Electronic Database of Cultural Heritage Sites of Uzbekistan", supplemented with data and results of the latest research; and so on.
Our immediate tasks are to study traditional restoration methods, problems of preservation and rational application of architectural monuments; to develop and implement innovative approaches in the preservation of cultural heritage objects; to work on the completion of the "Code of Architectural Monuments of Samarkand Region", a fundamental work initiated by the prominent architects of the Samarkand region - A fundamental work started by outstanding researchers of Uzbekistan in 1970s-1980s G. A. Pugachenkova, L. Y. Man’kovskaya and others. We would like to continue our research on the evolution of the architecture of Sufi monasteries in Central Asia; study and architectural revival of the Temurid gardens in Samarkand; study of the architecture of less-studied sites in the Samarkand, Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions and the development of tourism based on the research; traditional restoration methods of folk craftsmen "usto", etc.
We co-operate and will be glad to expand our partnership with a number of foreign and domestic scientific and educational institutions, foundations, associations, etc.
