GREETINGS BY THE RECTOR

The International "Silk Road" Research Institute at the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage started its activity in March of 2024 as a leading research center of Uzbekistan, specializing in the study, preservation and promotion of the history of civilizations and tangible cultural heritage of the Silk Road countries.

The main areas of research of the Silk Road IRI are theoretical and practical developments in the field of architecture and urban planning of historic cities, research of traditional experience and modern problems of restoration of architectural monuments, conservation and museification of architectural and archaeological objects. The Institute uses modern innovative methods of study, graphic reconstruction and restoration of historical sites.

We, the team of the Silk Road International Research Institute, have embarked on a challenging and inspiring mission to study, preserve and promote the tangible cultural heritage of the Silk Road countries.

The key objectives of the Silk Road Institute are: fundamental and applied research in the field of tangible cultural heritage; preparation and publication of the multi-volume updated and supplemented "Code of Architecture Monuments of Uzbekistan"; compilation of a comprehensive "Electronic Database of Cultural Heritage Sites of Uzbekistan", supplemented with data and results of the latest research; and so on.
